Welcome

Welcome to Women to Israel (W2I) 2009! W2I 2009 promises to be something truly special. The Lappin Foundation is proud to coordinate the second annual Women to Israel adventure for Jewish women of the North Shore and beyond. We recognize the priceless contribution Jewish women make to keep our children Jewish. Experiencing Israel up close and personal is another way to accomplish this important mission.

The excitement is building as we plan this adventure. For most of the trip participants, W2I is their first time going to Israel, and for a few of us, W2I will be a repeat visit. Either way, traveling as a community of Jewish women will enrich and enhance our visit to Israel, our Jewish Home. We will tour, laugh, cry, sing and dance together as we walk in the footsteps of not only our ancestors, but of our children, many of whom have been to Israel. (And let’s not forget the shopping!) All along the way, we will meet Jewish women from all walks of Israeli society. Whether this is your first time or a repeat visit, being in Israel with each other will be wonderful.

Visiting Israel is special in and of itself. Being in Israel during Yom Ha-Shoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), Yom Ha-Zikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day), and Yom Ha-Atzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day), will be extraordinary. You will come to understand the true meaning of Israel’s existence.

Oranim Educational Initiatives, the tour provider for W2I 2009, is very excited about planning this adventure for us. They are busily getting ready to welcome us “Home” and to show us the beauty of Israel, her people, and our family. Like all who have gone before you, they hope you, too, will fall in love.

This site will be filled with updates and pictures for your family and friends to see as you travel throughout the country. Remind them to visit the site daily while we are in Israel.

For each of us in W2I 2009, next year in Jerusalem, the words with which we conclude our seders, will have new meaning. May your visit to Israel be full of exciting adventures and miracles around every corner.

Sincerely,

Robert Israel Lappin
